Description

Everybody's favorite "I can't draw well enough to properly mimick anime, so I'll just say it sucks" character.

Now with comic sans.

Oh yeah guys, this critique is open, but only for those who will give this comic a five star rating in every category.

If you don't kiss my ass I'll close the critiques and block you! <3

If I had only the initiative to select a single word which might describe this modern masterpiece, it would almost undoubtedly be "marvelous". Everything about this piece, from the formatting to the use of written speech, demonstrates the artist's almost savant-like talent.

Firstly, the component of the whole which immediately catches the eye is the artist's choice of color--or, rather, their choice not to use it in any way, shape, or form. The result that the complete absence of hue, value and chroma accomplishes is twofold. Not only does it prevent the eyes of the layman from being distracted by vivid "eye candy", it also serves as a perfect analogy to the stark reality which is the subject of the piece in question.

Second, the formatting is as of the purest gold. The "comic" styled structure works in tandem with the aforementioned monochromal features, taking what some might consider to be crass and commercial and elevating it to a timeless design. In addition, the use of exactly four panels, arranged in a square--a trait most commonly associated both with Hellenistic Greece and modern high-rise architecture--is the icing on the proverbial cake.

All in all, this drawing, while simple on the surface, lends itself beautifully to a more discerning eye. It serves as a conduit through which the artist is able to channel their aesthetic talents and their near-total mastery over the English language, proving for the first time in a while that style need not necessarily preclude substance. I would be proud indeed to hang a master print of this gem on my wall.
